Voxmaxa is a multiplayer voxel world with many game modes. To play, pick a game mode on the splash screen. If applicable and desired, adjust the region, server, character, or weaponry. Then press Play.
There are 3 ways to play with friends:
The following default key bindings are useful in many or all game modes.
Survival mode)Survival mode)Creative mode)Press a single key to send a fixed phrase as a speech bubble above your character, with no typing (hotkey chat), or press T to open menu chat, a wheel with the full set of phrases. See Chat for the complete list of keys and phrases (and for typed chat). All keys can be rebound in the Controls settings.
Many game modes allow you to choose which character best fits your play-style. See the Wiki for the full roster and lore.
The Wiki covers these and the rest of the cast (the Miremoth, the Revenant, and more).
Many game modes support power ups. The way that you obtain power ups varies depending upon the game mode, and is discussed later in this document.
Voxmaxa has three kinds of chat — hotkey chat, menu chat, and typed sanitized chat. See Chat for how they differ.
If sanitized (typed) chat is enabled on your server, then press Enter to focus the chat, type your message, and press Enter again to send. Remember to never share personal information in chat!
Many game modes support building.
Press a number key 1-9 to choose a slot in the hotbar. Tab or shift Tab to choose the next or previous slot. Right click to add a block. Left click to destroy a block.
Press E to open inventory for game modes which enable inventory. Inventory is the blocks that are available for building.
The blocks that you have available for building, the extent to which you can modify your environment, and the duration that the modifications last, all depend upon the game mode, and whether you are in a nest.
For example:
Some game modes allow flying. For example, the public Creative servers and the party server.
In this case, press F to toggle flying mode. When flying, press space to ascend or press shift to descend.
Some game modes include a nest for each player. A nest is an area where a player can build without concern that other players will modify what they have built. Other players can visit a nest, but they cannot modify it. Nests are accessible from the splash screen by clicking the nest icon at the top right of the game mode, and in the game via portals.
Some game modes allow chat commands — most of them for every player on a party server. See Commands for the full list, with syntax and examples.
